Christmas Mini Sessions Are Back!

And if getting updated family photos, Christmas cards, or a few photos of your kids looking ridiculously cute in their holiday outfits is on your list this year, I've got you covered.

This year I'm offering Christmas mini sessions near Puyallup with both Tree Farm Minis in Maple Valley and Studio Christmas Minis in my Puyallup studio, giving families two completely different looks to choose from.

Here's everything you need to know before your session!

I photograph families from Puyallup, Tacoma, Bonney Lake, Orting, Lakewood and throughout the surrounding South Sound area, and Christmas minis are one of my favorite ways to wrap up the year.

They're quick, easy and give you beautiful updated photos without committing to a full family session during an already very busy season.

What Should We Wear for Christmas Minis?

This is probably the question I get the most, and my biggest advice is: coordinate without completely matching.

For Christmas photos, you really can't go wrong with:

  • Creams, browns, greens and warm neutrals
  • Deep red, burgundy or forest green for a little more Christmas
  • Cozy textures like knits, corduroy and sweaters
  • Dresses, boots and layers for the tree farm
  • Pajamas if you want something extra cozy and playful

Try choosing two or three colors and pulling everyone's outfits from that palette instead of putting the whole family in identical outfits or colors.

And please don't feel like you need to buy an entirely new wardrobe. Start with something you already love and build everyone else around it!

What Can We Expect?

Christmas minis are short, sweet and FUN.

You don't need to show up knowing how to pose or spend the entire session telling your kids to smile at me. I'll guide you through everything and keep us moving.

We'll get that classic everyone-looking photo for Grandma and the Christmas card, but we'll also play, snuggle, laugh and let your kids show off a little personality.

Honestly, those usually end up being my favorites anyway.

But What If My Kids Don't Cooperate?

Welcome to photographing children LOL

They don't need to sit perfectly still and smile at the camera for 15 minutes. In fact, I don't expect them to.

We'll work quickly, play games, give them something to do and roll with whatever personality they bring that day.

I've been photographing families since 2018, and as a mom of three myself, it takes quite a bit to scare me.

Wild toddler? Shy kiddo? Someone suddenly decides smiling is against their personal beliefs?

We're good :)

Tree Farm or Studio Christmas Minis?

Can't decide? Here's the quick version.

Tree Farm Christmas Minis are held at Papa's Tree Farm in Maple Valley and have that classic outdoor PNW Christmas feel. We'll have a simple holiday setup along with the cutest little Christmas Cozy Coupe for younger kids. These are perfect if you love outdoor photos, natural movement and a little more room for kids to play.

Studio Christmas Minis have a clean, cozy Christmas look without worrying about the November weather. They're a great option if you love a simple indoor setup and want something that feels warm and festive without being overly themed.

Either way, the focus is still your family. The Christmas setup is just the fun backdrop.

When Should You Book Christmas Photos?

Earlier than you think!

If you're planning to use your photos for Christmas cards, prints or gifts, having them taken before the holiday craziness really kicks in makes life SO much easier.

And Christmas mini sessions are limited each year, so waiting until December isn't recommended.
